Exploring Sarajevo
Today was a rest day, but it was a busy one! After breakfast we took a stroll around the old part of the city with a guide. We visted the town hall, many religious buidings and the brewery. When I read about the assasination of Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand as a youngster I could have never imagined I would stand one day on the very spot it happened. Then it was a trip up the cable car to view the bobsleigh track built in the early 80's for the winter olympics at the cost of 8.5 million US$ before the lastest of many wars gripped the region. Then it was back for a shower, and up to the yellow fort to view the "sunset" (damn cloud was in the way) followed by dinner at the brewery with live music. Not a bad way to spend a day in Sarajevo!

Greetings AD and Aly - sounding like once you got over the travel glitches that everything is going fine - it's sounding and looking marvellous. Don't panic about our BlogSpot name - that was our BlogSpot when we went overseas and we needed to login to post a comment to you. So some important questions, how much are things - eg a beer, a meal, petrol - that sort of thing? How are the locals toward travellers - friendly and helpful or ......? Weather in the photos looks lovely - is it warm? Talking of weather you're not missing anything here - its been crap all week - lucky if we made double figures any day. ReplyDeleteHi mate. Yes luggage dramas way behind us. Prices foir beer and meals very reasonable and slightly cheaper than home. Fuel quite expensive at 1.77 Euros or 3.50 NZ. Weather was not great to start by os really how now. 32-35 yesterday which was a lkiller at the border crossing. People - well a bit standoffish. Not as much English spoken as in Turkey. Its either some or absolutely none. Because the currency is swapping all the time is is challenging.ost accept Euros, but the "exchange rates" can wildly vary thats for sure!
