Brass Monkey Weather
Today we departed at 8:00am for another 450km day of riding from Kizkalesi to the Cappadocia Region. This meant retracing our steps back to Silifke and then turning inland and (reluctantly) leaving the Mediterranean behind us. We spend most of the day just below the snow line and the weather was cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey. We reckon it never got above 3 degrees, and it was by far the coldest day we have ever spend on a motorcycle - and that include multiple trips to the Brass Monkey Rally down south. We arrived at the hotel at 6pm pretty cold and tired, but we now have 3 nights here exploring the sights.

Hey guys - the whole trip is looking great. Weather looks as varied as NZ has been this past week. Photos are fantastic - can't wait to see gopro footage. Hows the food, drink, (taste wise) and general cost of things? Any spills yet? Still no photos of any Harleys!! Keep up the great blog, and keep having fun. Cheers, Brent and Lesley
ReplyDeleteGidday mate. The GoPro footage has turned out awesome with a great mounting location worked out on the very end of the handlebar. There have been a couple of minor spills (and a pillion falling off a stationery bike) with no major injuries and very little bike damage. The food has been great. They like it spicy but not overly so. Haven't seen a Harley as yet. In fact 99.9% of the bike we have seen are scooters or up to 150cc bikes. The only larger bikes we have seen were a couple of tourists in BMW 1100's. Apparently the larger bikes attract taxation. It is not unusual for a bit of a crowd to gather if we stop for a break in towns. Generally not much English spoken, so most people just want to know where we are from. Very few know about NZ, most Australia or ANZAC.
